About Me

Announcing an Engagement

Nearly every day I visit my favorite social media outlets. Because I live a long distance from my closest friends and family members, I enjoy keeping up with their lives online. Oftentimes, I see people announcing important events such as engagements on their social media pages and I just wish I could help them plan their receptions. Have you recently gotten engaged to your significant other? If you’re getting married, consider creating custom signs to put up around your wedding venue. These can be used to direct guests as well as share information about the night's events and food options. You will of course wish to create signs that reflect both of your personalities and the wedding theme. On this blog, I hope you will discover tips for custom ordering unforgettable signs for large events.

Create Embossed Signs To Promote A Rummage Sale Fundraiser

If the animal shelter that you own will be holding a rummage sale to raise funds for food, housing, and medical care for the animals that you and your employees have rescued, create some embossed signs that contain your business logo and information about the sale by completing the following steps. Once finished, display the signs around town in order to inform the public of the event that you will be holding.

Materials

  • newspaper
  • poster board
  • stencils
  • roll of removable tape
  • card stock
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • spray paint
  • craft paint
  • paintbrushes
  • embossing ink
  • embossing powder
  • heat gun
  • acrylic craft spray

Prepare The Design And Apply Paint

Place each piece of poster board that will be used to advertise the rummage sale on a newspaper-covered surface. Use strips of removable tape to secure stencils across one side of each piece of poster board that lists the date and address of the rummage sale. If your business has a unique logo, use card stock to create a stencil that replicates it. Otherwise, order a copy of the logo from a printing or advertising business. Fill in the stencils with one or two coats of spray paint or standard craft paint. Wait for the paint to dry.

Emboss Parts Of Each Sign

By embossing parts of each sign, you will be enhancing areas with raised surfaces so that the signs stand out and attract attention. Decide which parts of each sign you would like to enhance. Use a thin paintbrush to apply embossing ink to the signs. Sprinkle an even layer of embossing powder over each ink-covered surface. Shake excess powder from each piece of poster board.

Use a heat gun to melt the powder that has been added to each sign. While melting the powder, hold the gun several inches away from each poster. Use the gun until each area that had powder added to it has a smooth, raised surface. Apply an even amount of craft spray to the front of each sign. Craft spray will provide the signs with a protective layer that will prevent the paint and embossed sections from fading or peeling.

Hang The Signs To Notify The Public

Hang the signs from bulletin boards, on windows, or from any other item where many people frequent regularly. The unique signs will attract attention and may help draw customers to the rummage sale, which will benefit all of the animals in your care.
