About Me

Announcing an Engagement

Nearly every day I visit my favorite social media outlets. Because I live a long distance from my closest friends and family members, I enjoy keeping up with their lives online. Oftentimes, I see people announcing important events such as engagements on their social media pages and I just wish I could help them plan their receptions. Have you recently gotten engaged to your significant other? If you’re getting married, consider creating custom signs to put up around your wedding venue. These can be used to direct guests as well as share information about the night's events and food options. You will of course wish to create signs that reflect both of your personalities and the wedding theme. On this blog, I hope you will discover tips for custom ordering unforgettable signs for large events.

Considerations When Adding More Outdoor Lighting To Your Commercial Property

Sometimes, the existing lighting around your commercial property just doesn't seem to be enough. Dark areas on your grounds where thieves and other criminals can easily hide may make it difficult for you to sleep at night. Also, your signage may not have enough lighting to be visible to potential customers once the sun goes down. Still, there are many lighting service options that can be added to your current lighting to increase the nighttime visibility of your business.

If you do decide to add additional lights, there are several things that you should keep in mind before making changes. Here are some of them.

How Much of an Energy Load Can Your Current Electrical System Handle?

If your current transformer is too small, it may not be able to handle a large number of additional lights. The wattage associated with a halogen light is generally much higher than that of an LED lamp. Thus, if you already have a halogen-based lighting system and plan to add numerous halogen lights, you may need to trade your existing transformer for a larger one to increase the amount of energy that it can handle. A professional can confirm the actual wattage that your current transformer can accommodate and the load increase that the additional halogen lamps will add.

Still, you do have another option for a halogen-based system. You could leave your existing transformer in place and exchange your halogen lights for LED lamps. The LED lights would consume a fraction of the energy, while still producing adequate lighting. The change to LED lights may involve the installation of a new lighting system, or your current halogen system could be fitted with LED fixtures.

If your system is LED-based and your transformer is already handling a maximum load, a new transformer will need to be installed before your additional lights can be added.

What is the Current Style of Your Fixtures?

Even if certain outdoor lighting fixtures seem practical and inexpensive, it is important to consider the current style of your fixtures when making a selection. The color and shape of a fixture can complement or detract from the look of your commercial building and grounds.

Also, be sure to take note of the sturdiness of your current fixtures. Styles that are overly delicate may not be durable enough to withstand outdoor weather. Look for designs that are made of sturdy materials for longevity.

To ensure that you make the best selections when adding to your existing outdoor lighting system, schedule a consultation with a lighting installation specialist in your local area.
